The Crisis of CLIMATE CHANGE : Impact on Calamities in Malaysia by SITI NAZAHIYAH RAHMAT, NURUL NADRAH AQILAH TUKIMAT
Synopsis
Climate change is emerging as a global phenomenon. Much research has been devoted to study the consequences on a wide range of human and environmental systems. In Malaysia, more intense and frequent extreme events are expected due to extreme climate change. The Crisis of Climate Change: Impact on Calamities in Malaysia offers an insightful look at climate variability, floods, and droughts despite no previous understanding of climate processes. It also presents a basic definition of weather calamities that can help general readers better understand the causes of climate variability and the consequences. The book contains four chapters related to climate change. It collects the latest information and findings of possible future climate based on case studies that have been carried out in some parts of Pahang and Johor, Malaysia. The impact of climate change on the implementation of rainwater harvesting (RWH) as one of the adaptation measures is also discussed. Future climate should be considered in the design and planning of the RWH system so that the system can sustainably meet stormwater management requirements. The most important thing is that the impacts of climate change need to be studied at the regional or local scale to improve planning and management for a climate-resilient future.
