Synopsis
Mrs. Saksek was born during the Great Depression, grew up during WWII, married at age 18, had 5 children, 4 of them born before she became the proud owner of an automatic washer and dryer. This meant washing cloth diapers and hanging them out on the line to dry, with them freezing before she could get them hung up. They did not have a car or a telephone and purchased their first home for $2,800. Blue Cross/ Blue Shield cost $3.30 a month and they often had to search the drawers for the last 30 cents. She had to give the hospital a $25 payment before her son was born in 1956. After her 5 days stay, $20 was returned.
Loneliness was her middle name as her husband worked 6-7 days a week. Well, we will let her story speak for itself. Suffice it to say that at nearly 80 years old, she just lost her 3rd husband, but she still walks in the joy of the Lord every day.
Lillian has always found an outlet for her emotions in poetry, some of which are included at appropriate places in her book.
