Cyberjaya Here We come: A case of Leadership by Dr Gayah Gulam Haidar

Cyberjaya is synonym with Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), the project within Cyberjaya to spur the digital economy and envisaged as the next national engine of growth. The development of MSC has always been reported and highlighted. The reports normally illustrated the phases of implementation in terms of its infrastructure development, number of MSC Status companies, technological impact gauged through the proliferation of technology clusters, expenditures on R&D and personnel, and the rise in the numbers of patents and copyrights filed, etc. Cyberjaya is the intended vibrant city that was brought to being in 1997. There are many stories towards its existence in terms of development, management and people working and living in it. This is my story, a knowledge worker heading towards knowledge based economy. Cyberjaya was envisioned by the honourable Prime Minister then to bring the country into knowledge based economy in year 2020. I am indeed grateful and honoured to be part of the team to initiate the move and worked in it. I had done so with passion and love for the country’s vision. I am also thankful to all the persons who had the same passion to make Cyberjaya a reality, the special area designated as a test-bed for the new roles of Government, collaborations between Government and industries and more importantly the way people live and work within an ICT focused environment towards making the nation a knowledge based economy.
