Synopsis

Nellie Bly was the pen name of Elizabeth Jane Cochrane, an American journalist. Bly was a famous reporter and a pioneer of investigative journalism. As part of an undercover assignment in 1887, Bly pretended to be insane and spent ten days in an asylum in order to observe the conditions the inhabitants had to endure. Bly wrote a memoir on the experiences and uncovered the horrible and inhumane state of the asylum.
