Synopsis

With both Church and State institutions worldwide rocked with allegations of child sexual abuse, “Under the Frangipani” is a work of contemporary, literary fiction about a man who must choose between forgiveness and retribution when he saves the life of the vicar who sexually abused him as a child. Set in the hot Kimberley region of the Australian outback, and with a cyclone about to reach landfall, the drama is of man's conflict with his fellow man and his battle to survive the worst that Nature can offer. The story is also about the relevance of the Church's message when it has been contaminated by the actions of its own clergy, and the importance of living in a society where Justice is paramount. It is a story of how people choose different pathways to deal with their sexual abuse and the process by which those rawest of memories, when re-awakened, can be laid to rest. More than a crisis of “Faith”, it is a crisis of wanting to “Live”. It is a story of trust when there is no-one to trust; a story of forgiveness when there is only hate in your heart. It is a story that will shock, set in an epic landscape where Nature can be as cruel as men. And as redeeming! It is a story of what can be resurrected when innocence is lost.
